People Power Pale Ale!

We at Modist Brewing Co. are pleased to announce our People Power Pale Ale will release THIS SATURDAY!!! In brewing this beer we join fellow MN breweries Fair State and Bent Paddle, as well as more than 80 other breweries across the United States, who have also taken the People Power Pledge;  a campaign to support the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) by bolstering their grassroots People Power initiative to champion voting rights. We will show our support by proudly donating 10% of the purchase price of People Power Pale Ale to the ACLU.

We will celebrate the release of this beer on Saturday, October 20th at 5 PM. In addition to tapping the beer, the celebration will feature a live painting from local artists Rogue Citizen. The painting will be up for silent auction, a portion of the proceeds also going to ACLU.  We’ll also be hanging out at Fair State’s taproom on Thursday, October 25th to celebrate the release of their People Power Pilsner collaboration with Bent Paddle. Release details HERE!

About our Beer

People Power is a hazy Citra & Motueka Pale Ale brewed with heaps of sticky soft oats, Chilean barley, whirlpool hopped with Citra and dry hopped with Motueka and Citra. YuM! Notes of candied citrus zest, lychee berry jelly and lemon lime squish. It’ll be on tap with a limited number of crowlers available to take home.

The Pledge

Our Pledge

Our brewery pledges to support the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) by bolstering their grassroots People Power initiative to champion voting rights. This program is designed to empower people with the tools and capacity to organize locally to protect grave threats to our civil liberties. We will show our support by brewing a beer eponymously named People Power and proudly donating 10% of the purchase price of that beer to the ACLU.

Why would a brewery focus on civil rights threats in our culture? We brew beer for the moments we celebrate and the way it brings people together. Throughout the nation, breweries are pillars in local communities, creating gathering places in our neighborhoods. As we are uniquely positioned to raise awareness and bolster civic engagement, we feel a moral imperative and a patriotic duty to act.

We are choosing to help support the ACLU’s tireless efforts in affirming the protections afforded by our constitution and by the spirit of that document to protect the rights of all.  We’ve seen first-hand, the strength that a united community can harness.

We invite other brewers to join us in protecting the most vulnerable in our society by taking this pledge and brewing their own interpretation of People Power beer and donating 10% to the ACLU. The outcome will be a nationwide cornucopia of brews, designs, events and other inspired activations. Like the power of the people itself, expression comes in endless forms and sprouts from the ground up. As brewers, we will do our best to ferment and foment this creativity and commitment.

The below craft breweries from across the country will be launching their People Power brews from July 4th through Election Day (November 6th) in conjunction with the ACLU’s “Let People Vote” People Power campaign, which is working to expand access to the ballot in all 50 states.

Join us as we dare to craft a more perfect union.

Duluth! Here we are!

North Loop, MPLS, MN – October 9th, 2018

Holy smokes this is exciting. For the first time ever we’ve decided to bring our beer kinda far away from Minneapolis! Beginning TODAY, 3 of our mainstay brands will be available at select Duluth liquor stores in 4 pack 16 oz cans.  If any Duluthians want to welcome us to the hood, we’ll be hanging out at Pizza Luce Duluth tonight from 5-7 PM. Here’s the details:

Modist Brewing Co. is a production brewery in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis. We opened in 2016, and our aim is to modify beer and how it is perceived by defying rules and expectations. We don’t abide by established style guidelines or bend to preconceived notions. We push past traditional brewing by embracing creativity and unconstrained experimentation and taking innovative approaches to ingredients and techniques in order to harness raw inspiration and consistently create new and unique beer experiences. Here’s a good read if you want to learn more.
