Anniversary Party /// Seven Deadly Sins

April 21, 2023 - April 22, 2023

Repent your sins, rebuke all your false idols, and prepare to indulge in our most sinful anniversary party yet. (But, like, let’s keep it safe and have a rager. Plan a safe and sober ride and don’t be a dick to others or yourself. AKA check the Code of Conduct)

SEVEN DEADLY SINS
SEVEN YEARS OF MODIST

We’re spoiling the masses by committing all the deadliest of sins in one ungodly celebration, one for every year we’ve been pushing the boundaries of what beer could be. Mark your calendars and prepare your soul for what is sure to be the end of days.

Saturday, April 22nd
12 pm  – 11 pm

Wristbands will be required for drinking at all Seven Deadly Sins & for entrance to 4/20, Too at The Neu Neu – this might be a sinful party, but we’ve still gotta be civil and abide by the laws of our overseers.

Wristbands

  • FREE with the purchase of preordered Anniversary Merch (coming soon)
  • FREE with same-day Twins ticket
  • $2 at the doors

Let’s get sinful.

What kind of party would it be if we weren’t celebrating all the things Modist has done in the past seven years? Brought the first and only mash filter to Minnesota, giving us the ability to brew beers the world has never seen. Collaborated with countless breweries and entities including, but not limited to:

  • Run the Jewels
  • Hormel Foods
  • Dudesy (iykyk)
  • A Dungeons & Dragons beer with Jeremy Messersmith
  • Gravity Sucks, a beer & a video game with our friends at Wallride Games (available on Android & IOS now)
  • Made a beer that was also an NFT with REM5 VR Labs

Plus many other musicians, artists, liquor stores, restaurants, businesses, and some of the best breweries in the world. Developed a new beer category that the world has never known, Brewed Spirits, an extremely high-proof beer so smooth you’d swear there was barely any alcohol in it.

We’ve created a business that looks after its community and employees by putting diversity, equity & inclusion into the heart of everything we do. We have one of the best employee benefits packages of any brewery in Minnesota with healthcare, dental, 401k, competitive salaries, short-term & long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment, and have done these things:

  • Adopted a code of conduct (shout out Brave Noise)
  • Hired a DEI Consultant and now have someone in-house to help make internal processes more equitable and… cool
  • Built a robust management team that reflects every part of our company
  • Formed a donations structure to prioritize our community
  • Conducted active bystander training for our taproom staff to ensure the safety of both our patrons & staff
  • We’re prioritizing hiring local BIPOC/LGBT+ artists for events and labels (hit us up if that’s you)
  • Working with J.Benson Construction, a BIPOC-owned construction company, alongside Kraus-Anderson for the buildout of our NEW events space (coming mid-July)

In the past seven years, we’ve given hundreds of thousands of dollars to local nonprofits, used our space for countless charities to help bring more people to their causes, became a drop-off center for goods to be distributed throughout the community during the uprising of 2020, and, now with the help of The Drip, continue to be a drop-off center (along with other local breweries) to help those in need. We’ve even made, packaged, and distributed beer specifically to benefit nonprofits. Oh yeah, we also had a town crier proclaim, at the behest of AB InBev, that we were gifted Super Bowl tickets instead of suing our dumbasses, but instead we auctioned the tickets off for charity.

We’ve thrown some major ragers, present company included.

Sure, we’ve done a lot, but we’re just getting started. Let’s fucking celebrate the shit we’ve done and rage to the shit we’re going to do in the future.

What good is a sin if you can’t get a little heated?

We’re pitting some of the best hot sauce creators in the Twin Cities against each other and you’re the ones deciding their fate.

Hot Sauce Competition
12 – 3 pm

Buy some wings from our buddies Bricksworth Beer Co, walk the gauntlet nomming down all  the hot sauces, and vote for the MOST SINFUL hot sauce before the end of the competition. Tortilla chips will also be available for sampling if chicken carcasses aren’t your jam.

At the end of the competition, only one hot sauce maker will be crowned MOST SINFUL and win a $300 cash prize.

Wrath will be hosted by a yet-to-be-announced local celebrity that will have hot wings and even hotter questions, ala… you know the show.

For the full list of contestants click here.

We’re celebrating 4/20, Too (get it… because of the date?) Join us across the street at The Neu Neu and slow things down at our THC lounge & market. Wander around the space with locally made edibles and lifestyle product vendors peddling their dank and heady goods, and get lost in live glass blowing and other feasts for the senses.

Indulge in Modist’s own THC seltzers and sink deep Indacouch while carefully curated tunes MELT away the chaos of the party next door. You’ll be saying “Thanks, I Needed That” real quick.

4/20, Too
at The Neu Neu (across 3rd street)
4 – 9 pm

Munchies quelled by Rusty Taco

End the party by letting your lust consume you with the help of the Backyard Boombox Dance Party. Our taproom will be the dance floor and the Backyard Boombox DJs your muse. Find a partner or make it a group activity (consent is sexy) and dance, we’ll dance until we die.

Music will range from house, to pop, to custom mixes and everything in between. Let go and let your sins take control.

Backyard Boombox Dance Party
6 – 11 pm

We’re not the only brewery that makes good beer, and we’re a little envious of them. That’s why we’re teaming up with Brewing A Better Forest to set up a tap trailer filled with beer from some of our favorite breweries.

The trailer will be set up outside in our alley while our very own Metal Joe and three different bands that he is in; Beard, Joe Hysell, and Rad Enhancer lull your ears into a pleasure-induced music experience, and food trucks line your stomachs with the nourishment you need to indulge in all SEVEN DEADLY SINS.

Guest Tap Trailer
12 – 6 pm

What good is a party if you can’t overindulge? Throughout the entire day, we’ll have enough beer, THC seltzers, N/A beverages, and food to kill an army.

We’ll be releasing brand new beers, letting our envy consume us with guest beers at the tap trailer in our alley, and there will be fresh food from Chicks on Wheels, Bricksworth Beer Co., Messy Jesse’s, and more.

Come hungry, come thirsty, and be overly satisfied.

The greediest of people, small businesses, will be hanging out with us all day long. Give them your money and receive their goods to create envy in all your friends. Whether you’re looking to burn your face off with one of the many hot sauces from the Hot Sauce Competition, MELTing your brain space at the THC Market at The Neu Neu, stuffing your gut with all the good grub from the many food trucks, or simply wanting to show your Modist pride with some limited merch, they’ll happily line their pockets to pay their employees’ livable wages.
