Black Immigrant Collective Fundraiser

Black Immigrant Collective (BIC) was founded in January 2017. We came together after the election of the former occupant of the White House. Minnesota has a diverse and large immigrant population; and yet almost always the stories and racial experiences of Black immigrants are erased or overlooked in Minnesota’s immigrant and racial justice movements.

We are a collective of immigrant justice organizers, advocates, journalists, workers’ rights organizers. All of us are Black with varied lived experiences as immigrants and refugees. We are committed to amplifying Black immigrants in both racial and immigrant justice.

Our work is inclusive of the Black immigrant Diaspora.  We are an intentional space centering the lives of Black immigrants to:

1. Build our power toward our collective liberation

2. Highlight and make visible the impact of immigration policy and law enforcement on Black immigrants

3. Share best practices on immigrant related work in Black immigrant communities

4. Recognize our collective resilience and community resources as a way of being

5. Work in solidarity with all Black people as well as other immigrant communities and indigenous peoples.
