We’re proud to announce that we are continuing to help fight against racial injustice by brewing an Imperial Stout called Black is Beautiful with the Black is Beautiful initiative created by Marcus J. Baskerville at Weathered Souls Brewing. 

The Black is Beautiful initiative is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers that brings awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. Their mission is to bridge the gap that’s been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color. We are asking for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with us in unison and participate in this collaboration.

Black is Beautiful is also an Imperial Stout that was designed to showcase the different shades of black that will have our own Modist twist to it. Our version will have 100% of the proceeds going directly to Justice Frontline Aid, the collaborative effort started by Nur-D and his crew. The money raised by Black is Beautiful will go directly to helping the communities affected by this injustice, as well as providing much needed first aid to those putting their lives in danger during peacefully protesting each day in our community.

Our version of Black is Beautiful is an Imperial Stout brewed with wheat and barley malt, flaked oats, double roasted caramel malt, and a wide variety of chocolate malt and roasted malts. Half of the concoction was conditioned on hazelnuts, coffee, and Ghana cocoa nibs while the other half has found its way into some Willet bourbon barrels to be released at a later date. This hefty stout comes in at 12% ABV

Black is Beautiful Raffle

Please read the rules and FAQ’s below for our Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout bottle release raffle:

1. Raffle available NOW through Friday, July 31th at 8:00 am.
2. Randomly selected winners will be notified via email on Friday (7/31) at noon that will include a link to purchase your bottle online. 
3. Winners will then have a 24 hr period to complete the transaction and purchase the bottle. 
4. One (1) bottle per winner at $28.
5. Winners will select a preferred pickup window during their transaction. Available time slots will range from Saturday (8/1) – Wednesday (8/5). 
6. Person picking up must have an ID that matches the purchase AND the raffle entry. 
7. If any bottles are not purchased within the 24 hr time period, they will be forfeited and placed into taproom inventory.

So, like, what is this now?

Well, with super limited imperial stouts (like Black is Beautiful), there is only so much beer to go around. So, in order to give everyone who wants a bottle an equal chance of purchasing it, we hold a raffle where winners are randomly selected. Those randomly selected individuals then get the opportunity to purchase a bottle.

How long do I have to enter the raffle?

Raffle starts NOW and ends on Friday, July 31 at 8:00 am.

How much does it cost to enter the raffle?

Entering the raffle if completely free, but if you win you’ll still need to purchase the beer.

How many raffle entries can I get?

One (1), and you, the person that enters the raffle must be the one to both purchase & pick up the bottle. No Proxies. 

How will I know if I win?

The randomly selected winners will be receiving an email Friday at noon which will allow them to purchase one bottle. Be sure to check your spam folder, it may or may not be waiting for you in there. You will have 24 hours to purchase your bottle. Any bottles not purchased within that 24 hour window will be forfeited and be placed into the taproom inventory which will then be available for purchase Thursday (8/6) in our taproom and our online store.

Yes, as mentioned above it is a small amount and one bottle per person allows us to spread the love.

What do I get if I win?

You’ll have the opportunity to purchase one (1) bottle of Black is Beautiful at its retail value of $28.

If I win, but don’t want to purchase the beer, can I forward the email to a friend and let them have it?

Nah. The name of the raffle winner must match the name on the order, and the ID of the person who picks up the order. 

If I don’t win (or even if I do) can I still donate money to Justice Frontline Aid ?

When can I come pick up my bottle of Black is Beautiful?

During your purchase you will be able to select a pick up window. When picking up your bottle of Black is Beautiful, please bring a matching ID to that of the person listed on the order. Pick up windows will be available between Saturday, August 1st through Wednesday, August 5th during normal quarantine taproom hours.

Can I buy more beer when I pick up my bottle?

For sure. You can order some beer online, and we can bundle those beers in with your bottle (simply write in the comment section that you also have a bottle of Black is Beautiful), you can reserve a table in the taproom and have some beer on tap, or simply order beer at the counter when picking up your bottle.

Will the beer be available if I don’t win the raffle?

Yes, we will have a very limited amount on tap and any bottles that aren’t paid for within the 24 hour window will go into the taproom inventory and will be available for purchase in our online store and in the taproom.
