George Floyd’s Arresting Officer Charged With 3rd-Degree Murder, Manslaughter – NPR

At the time of this post, Derek Chauvin has been handcuffed and we’re one step closer to justice. However, due to the gravity of the situation, we have made the decision to postpone the decade’s largest Minneapolis based live stream event until further notice. On top of that, we have also suspended our beer delivery service for the safety of both employees, customers, and the rest of the community. We will also begin to close down at 6 pm until further notice, but reserve the right to close down at any time.

We will continue to make and sell beer out of our taproom and from our liquor store partners. We will also continue to be a safe place for anyone who needs a safe place during the unrest, we will also function as a first-aid supplies drop off. If we’re on our patio, we’re here for you with water, first aid, food, whatever we can do to help our community.

Stay tuned to our social media as we continue to update on what’s going on.

We urge you again to donate and take action.

For anyone protesting (civilly), you got a beer on us. If you’re comfortable with it, just message us a pic of you trying to right this wrong, and we’ll figure it out. And to the entire black community, we are here for you. Modist has your back. Don’t back down.

Our funds will be directed to:

  • George Floyd Memorial Fund
  • Minnesota Freedom Fund
  • Justice 4 Jamar
  • Philando Castile Relief Foundation
  • Brewing Change Collaborative

We’re also collect first aid supplies with the help of Nur-D. For most up to date needs and donations times, follow our social medias. If you can’t make it to Modist with donations, please consider donating to local organizations if you are able.
