EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Winter has officially arrived in Minnesota, and while the temperature drops, GetKnit is teaming up with Modist Brewing, ZZQ Smokehouse, and some of our state’s best bands to help you kick the mid-winter blues with our newest event: Brews, Blues, & BBQ!

Not allowing the wind chills to stop us from throwing an indoor mini-fest in honor of all things beer, music, and food, Modist Brewing Co. will serve as our hosts and open up their entire brewery exclusively for our guests to ensure that the only thing that is cold is the beer flowing from the taps.

Upon arrival, you will be treated to three tokens, each redeemable for a pint or tulip of Modist’s style-defying beer. Order up some of their flagship favorites such as Toats, Smoove, Wasteland, Phresh, and First Call or enjoy something from their experimental Deviation series. In addition to their usual taproom selection, the brewers will be mixing up several specialty beers only for BB&B! Three beers not enough to satisfy your thirst? Additional beers will be available for purchase – allowing you to mix and match to your heart’s content.

No food warms the soul in the middle of winter like some hearty BBQ, which is why we’re proud to partner with ZZQ Smokehouse out of Eagan, MN as our exclusive food provider. Inspired by the science and art of cooking, pitmaster Zak Zeug and crew slow smoke their meat for hours on end until it is just right for serving. Included with your ticket is a sandwich sampler featuring a pulled pork slider, a smoked chopped chicken slider and your choice of hand-made smokehouse beans or coleslaw. Should you choose to further indulge, ZZQ will be selling add-on BBQ and sides.

A mid-winter mini-festival would not be complete without some local live music, which is why we’ve teamed up with Genius of Fun to enlist four of Minnesota’s best blues-inspired bands:

Hurricane Harold & Doug Otto both hail from the Twin Cities and can be found gracing stages with various line-ups all over our great state. Teaming up to bring us blues music in its purest form, Otto’s vocals and guitar combine with Hurricane’s masterful harmonica playing to form a sound that taps the toes and stirs the soul.

Corey Medina is a Native American blues artist originally from New Mexico. A move to Northern Minnesota brought him to the “Brothers” – Eric Sundeen and Gary Broste – both from Bemidji. Together, the band sets out to “spread light to the dark, and hope to the hopeless with their raw, soulful, intimate music and stage presence.”

Black River Revue uses traditional bluegrass instrumentation coupled with creative songwriting to create a sound that is uniquely original. Joining us from Duluth, MN and Superior, WI, this group of friends draws on common human experience and deep emotion to put the “blues” in bluegrass.

Jorgensen Tagg Band incorporates blues, soul, jazz, and rock into a sound the band calls “Americana Soul”. This talented group of musicians has shared the stage with national acts including Joe Cocker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Guess Who and has garnered awards including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year from the Minnesota Music Awards. With a formidable lineup of musicians, instruments, original material, and classic covers, this band truly brings the soul of the blues to life.
