Modist Brewing Vaccination Policy

Beginning on Thursday, January 6, 2022 the following policies will be going into effect.

For all 5+ guests, Modist will require either proof of a full course COVID-19 vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered by a provider within the last 72 hours, for indoor service at the taproom starting on Thursday, January 6th.


Proof of vaccination or negative test must be shown at the bar upon entry and must clearly match the guestโ€™s ID.

  • A physical card
  • A photo of a complete vaccination card

Regardless of vaccination status, guests are always welcome to place an order online and pick up beer/merch to go.

Recent COVID-19 case spikes, a better understanding of vaccine efficacy, and new variants have collectively raised concern that we may be facing another winter of high risk when gathered together in small, enclosed spaces. This simple measure will aid in keeping our staff and guests as safe as possible during indoor service and provide options for guests who may experience different levels of comfort.

HOW WILL I SHOW PROOF OF MY COVID-19 STATUS?

Bartenders will check for proof of COVID-19 vaccine or negative test at the bar as they are checking IDs or as theyโ€™re taking an order for a non-alcoholic beverage.

Acceptable proof of vaccination* includes:

  • A physical card
  • A photo of a complete vaccination card
  • Digital immunization records such as Docket or Clear

A variety of negative tests* will be accepted, including:

  • Minnesota Department of Health (Vault)
  • An email from the guestโ€™s testing provider

WHAT IF A GUEST WOULD PREFER NOT TO SHARE THEIR COVID-19 OR VACCINATION STATUS?

Here is what we can do:


Crowlers, bottles & merch can still be purchased online and picked up in the taproom. Proof of status is only required to hang out and/or be served in the taproom.


All guests are still welcome to briefly browse our to-go offerings.

SINCE A VACCINATION POLICY IS IN PLACE, DO I NEED TO WEAR MY MASK?

Yes. In accordance with Minneapolis emergency regulation No. 2022โˆ’1, masks are required for all guests and employees while moving around the taproom. Masks are not required while seated at a table.

CAN A CHILD HANG OUT IN THE TAPROOM WITH A PARENT WHO HAS PROVIDED PROOF OF STATUS?

Yes, all guests aged 5 and up are required to prove vaccination status or proof of negative covid test within the last 72 hours of their visit.

CAN I USE THE RESTROOM IF I AM PURCHASING SOMETHING TO-GO?

Yes, all guests are still welcome to travel through the taproom.

Iโ€™M VISITING WITH A GROUP, BUT ONE PERSON IS NOT ABLE TO SHOW THEIR COVID-19/VACCINATION STATUS. CAN OTHERS VOUCH FOR THEM?

Unfortunately no. Individual proof of COVID-19 or vaccination status is required for any and all guests aged 18+ to hang out inside the taproom.

IS A COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOT REQUIRED AS PART OF A FULL COURSE OF VACCINATION?

No. Full courses of vaccination at this time are considered to be two shots from Moderna or Pfizer, or one shot from Johnson & Johnson. This is subject to change according to CDC recommendations.

HOW LONG WILL THIS POLICY BE ENFORCED?

IDK weโ€™re not sure. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 trends & CDC recommendations, but there is not a specific timeline.

I HAVE AN ANTIBODY TEST, WILL THAT WORK?

As of right now, we are following CDC guidelines and will not be accepting Antibody tests, but will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and will update our policy accordingly.
